THIS lovely hardcover children's picture book tells the story of a father and son going fishing together for the first time. The boat they take was built by the boy's grandfather after the war and references to the ANZACs occur throughout; a lone pine whispers on the edge of the water, the waves crash against the beach at Alamein. Jo Oliver's beautiful linocut illustrations convey a sense of wonder and excitement. The two are embarking on a new adventure and the boy is a little nervous. This book can be enjoyed on many levels and makes a good choice for parents and children to share aloud.
